Arsenal Target Assessing Options

Arsenal’s newest defensive midfielder target Luiz Gustavo will take his time to pick from multiple clubs that are interested in his services, after reports suggested Bayern Munich were welcoming offers in the region of £14 million for the player.

The Gunners are trying to tie up a deal, after being unable to bring in any senior players this summer. Arsene Wenger will be happy about the fact that the club have not lost any of their core players to rival clubs, but will be trying his best behind the scenes to push a deal through. The squad available to Wenger looks strong with the signings of last season, and with one or two additions, it could be strong enough to challenge for the title.

The Barclays Premier League is one of the most intense in the world, and it can get physically challenging for even the best of sides. Hence, it is important to have enough depth in the squad to be able to use the best players for the most important games, and yet have quality players to back up during domestic cups. Arguably, the two most important competitions for Arsenal will be the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, and while the latter is played in midweek, the FA Cup and the League Cup make life harder for teams to concentrate on their priorities.

The current midfield available to Wenger is stronger by the coordination between Santi Cazorla and the strikers. The Spaniard has successfully been able to link up with the likes of Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski to ensure the goal tally keeps ticking for the side. The Gunners have another creative midfielder in Mikel Arteta, who spreads the play all across the park with his accurate short and long passes, connecting the defense and the attacking midfielders.

Gustavo is a talented Brazilian who began his career at Corinthians Alagoano in 2007. With loan stints helping along the way, the 26-year old settled in Germany with Bayern Munich in 2011, with six goals in 64 appearances for the German champions.

According to ESPN, Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said, “Luiz has offers from England, Spain, Russia and Germany. The player has not made a decision, yet.”
