Arsenal striker emerges has shock target for European giants

Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette has emerged as a shock target for Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The Frenchman joined the Gunners last summer as a then club record signing from AS Lyon, but has endured a mixed first season in English football.


Lacazette struggled to find his feet during the opening half of the campaign, however came into his own after Christmas – forming a formidable partnership with January signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The duo managed 19 goals between them after the New Year, helping launch Arsenal into the Europa League final.

However despite his good form, recent reports suggest new Arsenal manager Unai Emery could be willing to let go of Lacazette this summer as he looks to re-build his squad to challenge for the top four next season.

And should the 27-year-old be allowed to leave The Emirates, Fenerbahce could be ready to snap him up.

According to news outlet Fotomac, Fenerbahce are eyeing up a move for the former Lyon star to partner ex-Tottenham flop Roberto Soldado up top.

They also report that Emery wants to replace Lacazette with Valencia forward Rodrigo.

The former Bolton star netted 19 times last season, earning a call-up to Julen Lopetegui’s Spain squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Lacazette finished the season with 17 goals for Arsenal, however was not named in the Didier Deschamp’s France squad for the World Cup.
