Arsenal Still Looking To Strengthen Their Defense

According to Metro, Arsenal are lined up to place a bid for Nottingham Forest’s prize player. Jamaal Lascelles who has been on Wenger’s radar since 2011 might finally find his way to North London given the right proposal is made this time.

The 21 year old has grown over the years and has become one of the most interesting young defenders out there. Despite needing some consistent reinforcements when it comes to the attacking line, Wenger looks keen on taking advantage of the winter transfer period to bring in promising footballers like Lascelles.

The young England U20 international is currently a team regular which will make things harder for the Gunners. He is young and can still spend a year or two playing for Nottingham. The club is also very well aware of how valuable Lascelles is and might want to hold on to him for a little bit longer.

Arsenal’s first £5 million offer which was quite generous considering it was made back in 2011, had no success. Hopefully for the Gunners, Forest and their manager Billy Davies will reconsider if the right bid is placed. Wenger has the necessary funds to make such a transfer but the question of its absolute necessity stll remains but at least a £5 million fee is not a big gamble when compared to today’s transfer fees.
