Arsenal Still Interested In Adding Mahrez And More?

It is hard to judge if Arsenal have spent enough or not this summer. Sure they did make the 6th most expensive move of the year in signing Lacazette but it really does not seem like enough. And to be honest, Lacazette would have probably cost Barcelona almost twice because of the money everyone knew they had available after selling Neymar.

Patterns show that Wenger does not buy more than one expensive player during a transfer window but according to rumors from the Daily Express, that could change by the end of the day. After what happened at Stoke and Liverpool and after failing to find the perfect starting line-up, Arsenal’s boss is apparently interested in spending some of that money he will get from Oxlade-Chamberlain’s transfer.

The targeted players are Riyad Mahrez who was rumored to leave Algeria last night to seal the deal with a new club and Jean Michael Seri who some say, will be the perfect pairing for Xhaka.

Even though the defense looked like being the one suffering the most, no one would be unhappy if either of the two mentioned above land at the Emirates. Mahrez has been deemed as one of the most skillful players in the Premier League and definitely was a big factor as he helped Leicester win the title.

Mahrez would fit well in a 3-5-2 formation or even in a 3-4-2-1 formation which would bring him right behind Lacazette and next to Ozil. Seri on the other hand would help both the midfield and the defense. He is pretty fast which would be a big help to Xhaka.

Mahrez and Seri are both valued at around £40-50m each meaning that Arsenal would only pay around a 5th of that from the actual transfer budget given the Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool deal is completed and the money is being delivered to the Emirates. We will just have to wait and see what happens. Who knows, maybe Wenger signs a center-back in Van Dijk and adds only one of Mahrez and Seri.
