Arsenal Step Up Chase For Italian Ace With Scouts Set To Watch Him ‘In The Coming Weeks’

Arsenal will be sending a scout to see Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi “in the coming weeks” according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website is reporting that the Gunners are keen on seeing the 25-year-old in action after some impressive performances in Serie A this campaign.

Berardi has scored nine goals and provided five assists in 19 league appearances for Sassuolo this season. The Italian international is generally utilised on the right-hand side of a front three and if Arsenal do make a formal approach for the player in the summer, it would raise question marks over the future of Nicolas Pepe.

The £72million signing has not performed to the levels expected of him since his arrival from Lille. However, he does have one goal and three assists in his last two league games which shows he is gradually settling into English football.

Whether the pursuit of Berardi is a precaution if they do miss out on the Champions League and need to sell in order to balance the books, we shall have to wait and see.
