The agent of Arsenal fullback Hector Bellerin has admitted that the defender has received interest from an unnamed Italian club.
When asked whether the Spaniard would consider a switch to Serie A in the future, Albert Botines replied that Bellerin is open to such a move, as well as revealing that there had already been an approach for the player:
“At the moment he is focused on the team’s commitments, comes from a bad injury and is returning to his levels. He likes Italy, the interest of an Italian club has been there but I can’t reveal it.”
“He has a long contract and it won’t be easy to take him away from Arsenal. He is vice-captain, we will see how the season will go.”
As things stand, it appears Bellerin is content on staying at Arsenal. As Botines mentions, the 24-year-old has only recently recovered from a serious knee injury and is working his way back to his best form.
It’s been a long road back for the Spanish international after sustaining an ACL tear in the 2-0 win over Chelsea last season. He made his first Premier League start since January against Leicester City last weekend.
Many supporters were tipping Bellerin to be named captain before the club announced that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had replaced Granit Xhaka in the role.
