Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira could seal his move to Atletico Madrid this afternoon, according to TMW. The website claims the transfer is now down to the fine details with a meeting scheduled for today where contracts could be signed.

Journalist Alessio Alaimo writes in his piece that the Uruguayan international is “virtually a new player” for Atletico, although it remains to be seen how accurate his reporting is.

There were some doubts over Torreira’s move to Atletico as the Spanish club were only looking for a loan deal, with an option to buy. The Gunners were reportedly keen on a permanent deal and we shall have to wait and see whether a compromise has been reached.

Arsenal do need funds from Torreira’s sale in order to finance their next bid for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and if the Uruguayan’s switch is as close as TMW claims, we could see some movement in terms of Aouar very soon.
