Arsenal Star Makes Injury Comeback And Could Be Available After The International Break

Arsenal centre-back Calum Chambers played 45 minutes for the Under 21s as they won against Gillingham in the EFL Trophy last night.

The defender has been back in training for a while but it was his first competitive action since he sustained an ACL injury in the defeat to Chelsea eleven months ago.

Chambers played the first half before being substituted at the break as the Gunners won on penalties after drawing the game 1-1 in normal time.

It is thought that the 25-year-old will be available for first-team selection after the international break, although it remains to be seen when he will be given an opportunity by manager Mikel Arteta.

The Europa League game against Molde near the end of the month would probably be the likeliest game for his comeback but he will have a battle on his hands if he wants game time in the league, with the likes of Rob Holding and Gabriel having started the season so well.
