Arsenal Slip To Third Place With Loss At Bogey Team Stoke City

Arsenal managed a less than mediocre performance against Stoke and lost after Koscielny gave away a penalty with just 15 minutes to go. There was nothing Wenger could do despite his attempts to end the match on the offensive.

The first half found the Gunners pretty in unispired, with Stoke being the ones to take charge. Crouch was the most dangerous player on the pitch missing some decent opportunities. Giroud on the other hand looked determined but spent most of the time on the ground as Stoke’s players continuously tried to intimidate the Frenchman with some rough tackles.

The post-match statistics say a lot about how the Gunners perform. It seems that fatigue has really gotten to Wenger’s players who only managed to send two shots on target throughout the entire match. Constantly using the same players or using players who were out for a really long time seems to cost Arsenal their performance.

None of the Gunners stood out except for Oxlade-Chamberlain who was sent in with little time to make a difference. Podolski barely touched the ball while on the pitch just like Wilshere.

Ozil came on but failed to improve Arsenal’s game. His passes were inaccurate and his pace was in slow like the entire team despite being sent in during the second half.

The Gunners could have snatched a point during stoppage time but 21 year old Yaya Sanogo missed a great chance as he leaned back with his right-footed effort and blazed it over the bar and reminded Arsenal fans how much the team needs a second scoring striker.
