Arsenal Should Steer Clear Of Suarez

If the Gunners want to be a serious threat in the Premier League this upcoming season, Luis Suarez should not be in their plans.

It’s clear that the Emirates club is doing all it can to make a transfer for the controversial Uruguayan star. However, Liverpool recently turned down a £30 million bid from Arsenal for the striker’s services. Other European giants like Real Madrid are expected to pursue Suarez as well. He recently stated that it would be “difficult to say no” to Los Blancos if the offer was right.

If he were to transfer to Madrid it may ultimately be a blessing in disguise for the Gunners. There is no denying the 26-year-old’s talent, but the baggage that comes with him might outweigh his skill level. Suarez has continuously been recognised for his negative on field behaviour. This sprung from him widely being accused of diving. His knack for diving has caused refs to not allow him legitimate penalties. And no-one will forget his bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in a January encounter. This led to a 10-match ban which he will not be done serving until October.

Even with these problems, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made it clear since the start of the summer that the Gunners are in the market to make some big transfers. Those players include the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Fernando Torres. I firmly believe that Arsenal should keep their focus on transferring for those stars and not the controversial Suarez. Despite that, it is clear that Wenger admires Suarez’s wonderful attacking talent and would put aside his recent troubles.

Amidst the reports of Arsenal making a move for Suarez, Liverpool have said that they will most likely not allow the striker to move to a fellow English club despite many people stating that they would be praised for the move. If they were smart, the Gunners would listen to Liverpool and back off.
