Arsenal should not replace Wenger with Ancelotti

Arsenal should not replace manager Arsene Wenger with Carlo Ancelotti, and should look at trying to bring in Diego Simeone. That is the view of former Arsenal star and now ESPN pundit Stewart Robson.

Ancelotti is available after being sacked by German giants Bayern Munich last week. The Italian has endured a tough start to the season with Munich, and a 3-0 defeat to PSG in the Champions League was the final straw.

However, despite his impressive managerial record making him one of the best managers in the world, Robson believes he is not the right man for the job to lead Arsenal to their first league title in over 13 years.

“Ancelotti? No,” Robson said.

“I think someone needs to go into Arsenal that’s going to kick their backsides.

“Be a better coach. Simeone would do a good job.”

“Ancelotti would not be the right fit. Not the right fit for Arsenal.”

Wenger has a contract at the Emirates until 2019 after signing a two-year extension in June, but many are still convinced that the Frenchman has past his sell-by date, and want him replaced in order to turn their fortunes around.

Ancelotti would be a big coup for Arsenal, but after the revelations about his poor management at Bayern, perhaps Robson is right and the Italian would be a poor choice for the Gunners.
