Arsenal should make a statement of intent by moving for Lukaku

Arsenal face a major challenge this summer as the Gunners look to prove they’re capable of mounting a push for Premier League glory and will need high-profile signings to make that dream a reality.

After a decade of being in the top four, and winning just two FA Cups during that period, Arsenal want to kick-on next year but face a stern test as they risk losing the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

Both Arsenal heroes are rapidly approaching the final 12 months of their contract at the Emirates Stadium and no progress has been made towards a renewal, which has raised the likelihood of high-profile departures.

Replacing either of their star-man will certainly not be an easy feat but Arsenal will need to go big in the market to show they’re a force to be reckoned with- and moving for Romelu Lukaku would be a wise move.

The Belgian striker has been heavily linked with an exit from Everton this summer, with Chelsea looking likely to bring their former forward back to Stamford Bridge, but Arsenal should try and establish themselves in the market.

Lukaku would become the star-man at Arsenal and would hand the Gunners a boost in front of goal that they’ve been lacking since the days Robin Van Persie was in his prime- especially if Alexis and Ozil leave.

Having established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in the Premier League during recent years, Lukaku has years of success ahead of him and has the potential to become one of the best strikers in the world.

Already boasting vast experience of English football, Lukaku would settle in immediately at Arsenal and beating the likes of Chelsea to his signature would hand their rivals a huge blow, as well as issuing a major statement of intent.

On top of that, the fact that Arsenal would likely have to pay a club-record fee to lure the Belgian to the Emirates Stadium would also lay down a marker ahead of next year’s campaign and could help lure other big names to North London.

Striker’s like Lukaku don’t come around very often and the fact that he only turns 24 next month means he could excel for years to come with the Gunners, helping push them towards domestic success and enjoy improvements on the continent.

Arsenal are in desperate need of boosting their forward line this summer and signing Lukaku would solve a lot of their issues, giving the Gunners a star-man to build a title-winning side around.

Deadly in the air, when running at opponents and holding the ball up, Lukaku has everything a modern day striker needs to thrive at the top of the game and Arsenal can hand him the opportunities he’s chasing- arguably offering more than Chelsea can in terms of value to the first-team as he would likely get more first team games with Arsenal than he would at Chelsea or Man United.
