Arsenal set to swoop for Real Madrid star

Arsenal are set to swoop for Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez this summer, according to reports.

The Spain international is reportedly open to leaving the Bernabeu at the end of the season after having made only ten starts in La Liga this campaign for Zinedine Zidane’s side.

And the Gunners could be set to offer the 26-year-old a route out of his home country and a fresh start in the Premier League.

Arsenal are understood to be keen on bringing Vazquez to The Emirates as they look to bolster their squad after a disappointing season.

Arsene Wenger’s men currently sit in 6th place in the Premier League, and out of all domestic competitions besides the Europa League.

They beat AC Milan comprehensively over two legs to reach the quarter-finals last week, and know that winning the tournament is their last hope of qualifying for the Champions League next season – something that could prove vital in helping them tempt Vazquez to North London.

Arsenal are not alone in their pursuit of the Spaniard however.

Liverpool, who currently sit third in the Premier League and who are set to take on Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals, are also interested in Vazquez.

The Reds are yet to find a long-term replacement for Philippe Coutinho who joined Barcelona in January, and Vazquez has emerged as a surprise target.
