Arsenal Set To Swoop For Real Madrid Pair

Arsenal were linked with a January move for Alvaro Morata as Wenger wanted to strengthen his attacking options for the business end of the season. However, no move materialized for the striker, which has been detrimental for the London side as they slipped from first to fifth in the Premier League table.

However, with substantial transfer money available in the summer, Wenger is set to renew his interest in Morata. According to the Mirror, in addition to Morata, the Frenchman is also targeting a move for highly-rated midfielder Casemiro, who is utilised just as a squad player by Carlo Ancelotti.

Wenger will be hoping Casemiro can have the same impact as another Brazilian Philippe Coutinho, who was also a squad player at Inter Milan before Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers scooped him up in January 2013.

The 22-year-old is identified as a box-to-box midfielder and impressed in Madrid’s B team forcing Ancelotti to call him up to the senior squad. He learnt his trade with Sao Paulo in Brazil before making a move to Spain to continue his development last year.
