Arsenal Set To Secure Their Captain For One More Year

Mikel Arteta looks keen on extending his stay at the Emirates. Even though rumors had it that the Spaniard could leave this season, it seems that Wenger is determined to keep him around for one more year. Arteta who is currently injured, still plays a very important role within the team. He is a leader and he is one of the only ones capable of linking the defense with the middle section of the pitch. Even though Ramsey started off with a similar profile, he has now become more involved in the offensive side of the squad.

According to the Daily Mail, the 32 year old Spaniard will not be offered a deal which is longer than a year according to Arsenal’s new policies regarding players over 30. Even so, Arteta looks satisfied with the situation and will probably continue at the Emirates.

Giroud is also rumored to have signed a new deal with Arsenal despite being out for the next three months. The Frenchman is set to receive £80,000 per week for the next 4 years. Hopefully the rumors are true for both players. They are two of the most important members of the squad and will probably stay this way for the rest of the season as long as they are able to perform.

Even though Arteta is among the oldest in Arsenal’s squad he is still capable of contributing to the Gunners’ success. Playing for one more year should not be a problem for the Spaniard.
