Arsenal Set To Secure Fifth Signing On Five Year Deal Following Medical

Arsenal are close to finalising a deal to sign Dijon goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson, according to DV.is. The Icelandic news outlet claims the 25-year-old is expected to pen a five-year contract after having his medical yesterday.

The Gunners have already signed Gabriel Magalhaes, Willian, Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares on permanent deals over the summer, but the signing of another keeper was expected due to the impending departure of Emi Martinez.

Aston Villa are likely to announce the arrival of the Argentinian international very shortly, with a fee in the region of £20m having been agreed. With only £1.5m of that expected to be spent on Runarsson, it will free up funds for other potential transfers.

Arsenal are very keen on Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey but, with both costing around €50m (£46m), the money is only likely to stretch to making an offer for one of them. Which one the London club will go after, we shall have to wait and see.
