Arsenal set to move for PSG star

Arsenal have reportedly made enquiries to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Julian Draxler, according to reports in France.

Draxler is a player who has been wanted by Arsene Wenger for years, very nearly joining the club whilst at German side Schalke. The forward has since gone on to sign for Wolfsburg, and then shortly after joining PSG, where he has scored 10 goals in 25 appearances during his debut campaign for the Ligue 1 side.

However, despite only being at the club for a number of months, the attacking midfielder is already being linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes before the end of the transfer window.

PSG have a number of superb attacking options, and the arrival of Neymar will only further push Draxler down in the pecking order. At 23, it is time for the German to be playing regular football – something he won’t be promised for the upcoming season in France.

Arsenal face a huge crisis in the days to come before the transfer window shuts, with forwards Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez understood to be wanting out of the club. It leaves Wenger needing further options in attack, and with Liverpool looking likely of signing Gunners target Thomas Lemar, it could mean Julian Draxler will become the manager’s top priority.

Le 10 Sport suggest Arsenal have made an approach ‘in the last few hours’, with the north London club weighing up an offer in the region of £30m for Draxler.

Draxler’s agent Roger Wittmann was at Anfield last week as Liverpool beat Hoffenheim 4-2, and it is understood that the Reds are also considering a move for the midfielder. But with their interest in Lemar looking increasingly likely to end in a completed deal, Draxler could be in line to finally link up with Wenger.
