Arsenal set to move for Barcelona star

Arsenal could be set to make a move for Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The 30-year-old midfielder has not had the best of times during his two year stay at Barcelona so far, having joined from Atletico Madrid in July 2015.

The Turk has made little over 30 appearances for the Catalan club in total, scoring 5 goals. He has never really managed to find the form he had at Atletico, form that made him one of the most dangerous midfielders in the game.

Now it seems his time at the Nou Camp could be over, with the Turkey international not playing a single minute for Barcelona so far this season. And it looks as if Arsenal are set to make a move as early as January in order to reinforce the potential void that could be left by Mesut Ozil’s departure.

CNN in Turkey have reported that the Gunners are interested in the player, and have contacted Turan’s representatives to get more information about his future. They could face competition from his former club Galatasaray though, who are also said to be monitoring the midfielder’s situation.

Barcelona have a wealth of talent in midfield, and it is no surprise that Turan is finding it difficult to force his way into the first XI. However, despite not being a regular at Barca, that in no way means he is incapable of playing in the Premier League.

Turan is still a top player, and would surely have a big role to play if he was to join the Gunners.
