Arsenal Set To Make Surprise Move For Unsettled United Star

Arsenal are interested in recruiting Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera on a free transfer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and negotiations over a new deal have yet to reach a successful conclusion.

Herrera is reportedly unhappy about the length of time it has taken for United to come up with a good offer to keep him at Old Trafford.

The Basque midfielder is currently on £80,000 a week but wants nearly double that to extend his stay. With Paris Saint-Germain also rumoured to be interested, Herrera has publicly made it known that he is now considering his options:

“I focus on playing football in the month-and-a-half that remains (of the season). The rest is left to my agent, both the possible renewal with United and any talks with another club for my departure.”

“I enjoy playing for the biggest club in England. The fans love me, they have treated me phenomenally and my duty is to listen to them – although I honestly do not know what is going to happen.”

Herrera is currently out of action with a hip injury, but since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager in December, he has only missed out on the starting eleven once when he has been fit.

The midfielder scored in the Norwegian’s first game in charge against Cardiff and provided assists in subsequent wins against Huddersfield and Bournemouth.
