Inter Milan will offer centre-back Stefan de Vrij to Arsenal as part of their bid to sign Gabriel, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Nerazzurri are believed to be very keen on snapping up Gabriel (who they value between €35m and €40m) and they will try and tempt the Gunners into selling up by proposing a part-exchange deal.

De Vrij has just a year left on his contract at the Serie A club and the Dutchman, who has been capped 58 times by his country, is expected to leave the San Siro this summer.

Inter value de Vrij at around €20m (£17m) so they will likely include cash in any offer for Gabriel, but it would be a surprise if Arsenal were to accept such a proposal.

De Vrij is now 30 years of age and, while he is still highly regarded, with teams such as Chelsea and Manchester United having been mentioned as potential suitors in recent weeks, Gabriel is much younger and has greater potential.
