Arsenal Set For Sensational Midfield Swoop!

The Spanish giants were finally able to agree a world-record deal worth £85 million with Spurs for the Welsh wizard Gareth Bale, and they unveiled the PFA Player of the Year to the gleeful Madrid supports camped in the Bernabeu today.

Bale’s arrival has prompted a number of high-profile players to the exit door in order to balance the books, and Madrid have reportedly agreed to sell Kaka back to AC Milan on a free transfer. Reports emerged today that Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in their playmaker Ozil, who is also available on the transfer list due to the Welshman’s arrival.

With Manchester United more focused on Athletic Bilbao’s Ander Herrera and Everton’s Marouane Fellaini, Arsenal have emerged the front-runners for Ozil. In what could be regarded as a major coup for the Gunners, Dailymail is reporting that Arsenal have finally splashed the cash after agreeing a £40 million deal with Madrid for their playmaker.

Arsenal have, so far, not spent a single dollar in the transfer window and have bought in Yaya Sanogo and former Gunner Mathieu Flamini on a free. However, they are set to smash their transfer record by more than double by bringing the 24-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.

The report suggests that Ozil will be the Gunners best paid player on their books currently, after verbally agreeing a lucrative five-year-deal over the telephone. The former Werder Bremen player has undergone a medical in Germany and only a few formalities are left to be completed before a deal can be announced.

This deal proves Arsenal mean business this season, and the signs are looking good after they overcame a formidable Spurs 1-0 to win four on the bounce after their loss to Aston Villa on the opening day of the season.

There are still some chinks in the armour though, and Wenger has reportedly brought in a goalkeeper as well as attacking reinforcements. They have reportedly agreed on loan-deal for Palermo’s Emiliano Viviano and are also back in discussions with Real Madrid for Karim Benzema.
