Arsenal Set For Major Blow In Their Pursuit Of Ghanaian Star Following Latest Development

Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is expected to sign a new contract with his current club in “the coming weeks” according to AS.

The Spanish side have been locked in negotiations with the 26-year-old for a while and Atletico are now only waiting for a ‘yes’ from the player to put pen to paper on a new deal which would double his release clause.

Arsenal and Manchester United have been keeping tabs on Thomas’s situation, with his current buyout fee set at €50m (£45m) but it does look as though both teams will miss out on the Ghanaian.

Nothing has been officially signed yet, though, and the Gunners will be hoping that the midfielder has a change of heart about his future.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was keen on taking Thomas to the Emirates as part of his summer recruitment plans. However, he may now have to look at other options.
