Arsenal Set For A Late Bid On Marseille’s Florian Thauvin

Arsenal and Chelsea seem to have some common interests with only a few days left until the transfer window closes. Despite already signing two new players, the Blues look keen on securing Olympique de Marseille’s young Frenchman, Florian Thauvin’s approval to move to Stamford Bridge. Arsenal on the other hand have made no transfers and have minor squad depth problems especially with Walcott out for the entire season. According to Inside Futbol, both clubs sent scouts to analyze Florian Thauvin’s performance for Marseille against Monaco during the weekend.

Wenger looks more determined though to sign his 21 year old compatriot who just moved to Marseille in 2013. The Gunners already tried to bring Thauvin to London a year ago but lost their chance after the youngster singed a 4 year contract with Lille.

The French U21 international has managed to triple his price in a matter of months. He was bought by Marseille for £10 million after a complicated deal with his former team for which he did not make any appearances as he was sent on loan to Bastia.

Arsenal could really use a player of his profile. He has incredible ball control, excellent speed and can provide very accurate assists. He has proven his qualities several times especially during this season. Thauvin does not look prone to injury and has a lot of experience even if he is only 21. Wenger would surely be happy to have him on his team as soon as possible. Hopefully the Frenchman will chose to move to the Emirates rather than to Stamford Bridge. It is going to be hard though to compete with Chelsea who look like they are once again on a shopping spree with their meag-bucks owner!
