There has been a lot of stipulation regarding weather Arsenal will finally invest important amounts of money into transfers or not during the summer transfer period. Things are not yet clear and Wenger himself did not sign a new contract and the winter transfer window came with only one new player signing to play at the Emirates.

Wenger seems to have convinced some of Arsenal’s most desirable current players to extend their deals with the team such as the Ox, Walcott, Wilshere, Ramsey etc. In recent news it appears as though another one of the Gunners’ key players, Laurent Koscielny has extended his deal. Even though the Frenchman has been omitted from the starting eleven of late he is still one of the best defenders in the world.

The French international said that he will train hard to get his spot back and also said that he is very happy playing for Arsenal. He is now bound by a 4 year long deal and seemingly he never even considered leaving the Emirates, despite his lack of appearances over the past month.

Laurent Koscielny will face tough competition even while off on international duty. Real’s rising star, Raphael Varane plays the same position as the Gunners’ player making things even more competitive to make France’s team. Arsenal’s defender said that it is better to have quality competitors for a spot in his country’s first eleven.

Arsenal have had big problems this season as far as the defensive line goes. Many important players have been out because of injuries and it is very probable some reinforcements will be brought in over the summer. Laurent Koscielny is class act and let’s hope he finds his way back into Wenger’s starting line-up as he is surely playing as well as any of his other colleagues.
