Arsenal have been scouting Montpellier striker Elye Wahi for “several months”, according to Foot Mercato.
The French website claims the Gunners have joined the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Juventus in keeping tabs on the player.
Wahi has recently reached a notable milestone, scoring his 20th Ligue One goal before his 20th birthday; that is more than Thierry Henry (15) and Karim Benzema (18) managed during their time at Monaco and Lyon respectively.
Although he is still a pretty raw talent, the France Under 21 international has pace to burn, and he would certainly be a good fit for the Gunners’ frontline.
Even so, Foot Mercato claim that Arsenal are unlikely to make an offer for Wahi during the January transfer window. Gabriel Jesus may be injured but the Premier League leaders are happy with the striker options currently at their disposal.
For Montpellier’s part, they would only consider selling the 20-year-old if a team is willing to pay around €30m (£26.6m).
