Arsenal Ready To Sign Costa From Under Chelsea’s Nose

Diego Costa looks set to exit the Vicente Calderon stadium with top clubs across Europe chasing him. Even his manager Diego Simeone has admitted that he will be powerless to prevent Costa from joining one of Europe’s elite clubs next season.

Chelsea have shown a keen interest in his services with many reports suggesting that a deal is very likely to take place. The Blues will know what Costa is likely to offer after the 25-year-old was instrumental in knocking Chelsea out of the Champions League in the semi-final stage.

However, according to the Mirror, Arsenal are ready to meet Costa’s buy-out which is set at £31 million with a firm bid in the summer. Arsene Wenger, just like Jose Mourinho, is on the lookout for a quality striker to strengthen his attacking options for next season.

Giroud has been the lone forward for Arsenal and it has been obvious the Frenchman has lacked any sort of real competition which has affected his performances. The report talks about Wenger admitting he is looking for a player either in place of Giroud or alongside him.

Wenger said of Giroud, “Maybe we have over-played him at some stage. There is perhaps room for an attacking player who can play in a different position to Giroud. Someone who can play with him as well. But I do not know yet who will be on the market.”

Brazilian born Costa would fit Wenger’s style of play but Chelsea are still considered favourites for his signature. Where do you think Costa will end up playing next season?
