Arsenal could “conclude” the £19m transfer of Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan N’Dicka “when the transfer window opens”, according to the Daily Express.
The newspaper claims that the Gunners are favourites to land the 21-year-old in the summer following talks with the player’s representatives recently.
N’Dicka is a left-footed centre-back by trade and it would be a surprise if Arsenal were looking to sign him, considering manager Mikl Arteta already has two left-sided centre-halves in Pablo Mari and Gabriel.
It could be the case that N’Dicka is being considered because he can also play at left-back. With Sead Kolasinac unlikely to remain at Arsenal after his loan spell at Schalke, and doubts over the future of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, there is room in the squad in that area.
Especially as Kieran Tierney is somewhat prone to injury, having a player like N’Dicka, who can provide cover both in the fullback and centre-back roles, could be useful.
