Arsenal Prove Losses Against Dortmund And Chelsea Were Blips

Arsenal took a big step towards qualifying for the next stage of the Champions League. They managed to win against last years’ finalists, Borrussia Dortmund who put in a good effort but failed to score. Wenger’s team is now first in their group with only two matches left to decide who goes through.

The Gunners did not create much during the first half at all in fact they did not have a shot on goal. The game started with Arsenal having to do some serious defending in front of the German side. Dortmund looked determined and had their first chance 17 minutes into the game. Wenger’s team had a hard time keeping the ball and were always a step behind. The first 45 minutes were a bit dull with not much happening. There were two bookings for each side. Arteta and Lewandowski both received yellow cards. The referee whistled for first half with only a minute of extra time gone by.

The second half started with Borrusia on the attack. Arsenal looked like they would not be able to keep the score level for long. Reus missed some good chances. Arteta put in a great effort and kept the Gunners structured. He was focused and managed to break down most of the German’s attacks.

Dortmund managed to score during the 52 minute but the referee signalled offside for more than one of their players. Reus was definitely the stand-out player of the game. He was all over the pitch but lacked that bit of luck.

The game took the most unexpected turn with 30 minutes left. Arsenal managed to score after Ramsey, who is certainly having the best season of his career, nodded the ball into the net from Giroud’s knock down.

After the Gunners scored the game really came alive. Reus missed another great opportunity just two minutes after Arsenal got their 1 goal advantage. Ramsey was Wenger’s best player and he could have scored his second goal if not for Weidenfeller.

Arsenal’s manager closed the game and started defending the result leaving no room for error. Dortmund continued attacking but were blocked by an excellent defensive line.
