Arsenal Preparing For Summer Targets Like Daryl Janmaat

According to the Express, Arsenal are already preparing summer targets to build on a successful first half of the campaign, and have been linked with Feyenoord defender Daryl Janmaat, who has reportedly stalled contract talks with the club in anticipation of a bid from the Gunners in the summer.

Arsene Wenger’s repeated denial about any major transfer movement was proven to be correct as he only brought in Swedish midfielder Kim Kallstrom but did move Emmanuel Frimprong on to Barnsley and sent Park Chu-Young to Watford on loan as well as some other younger players either moving to lower league clubs on permanent deals or on loan. Janmaat, who has earned 15 caps for the Netherlands, will be a target in the summer to deepen the options for the defence.

Bacary Sagna’s long stint at the club could end in the summer, and Janmaat would be the ideal replacement for the French full back. Even if Sagna can be persuaded to stay at the club, Janmaat would be a valuable addition. The 24-year old’s contract expires in 2015, and naturally, Feyenoord will want to sell their player in the summer before being forced to do so by a bigger club closer to the end of Janmaat’s deal.
