Arsenal Prepared To Send £10m to Paris

The Gunners are looking left and right in order to find the perfect midfielder to take over Arteta’s responsibilities. Even if 23 year old Francis Coquelin is looking great and has started making regular appearances for Arsenal, the North Londoners still need more than one or two solutions for the middle of the pitch. According to the Daily Mirror, Yohan Cabaye could be the right man for the job despite being very close to the age limit mentioned in the club’s contract extension policy. The Frenchman turned 29 this January which means he is just 2 years younger than Flamini who is very likely to not receive a contract extension at the end of the season. Out of all the options Arsenal have lined up, Cabaye looks like the most approachable but also as a last resort.

PSG’s player is an excellent midfielder but is more along the lines of Ramsey and Wilshere rather than being a defensive solution. Schneiderlin or Khedira on the other hand look a lot more suitable for Arsenal’s needs. Unfortunately both will be very complicated to bring to the Emirates. It would be wasteful to spend money on Cabaye when there is no guarantee he is better than Arteta, Coquelin or Flamini. As seen in the game against Liverpool, every team needs a moment of pure magic to win big matches. Such moments are most often delivered by players like Sanchez or Ozil who even though cost three times as much as Cabaye, have the ability to make a difference against clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, City or United.
