Arsenal Plot £9m Swoop For Hungarian Teenager But Opening Bid Set To Fall Short

Arsenal are planning a £9m offer for Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, according to the Football Insider.

The website reports that the 18-year-old is a top target for the Gunners, but they may face competition from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.

Another stumbling block is Salzburg’s valuation of the player with the Austrian club reportedly holding out for £15m.

Szoboszlai had a superb breakthrough season, having started the campaign with Salzburg’s feeder team FC Liefering in Austria’s second division.

After starring out on loan, he returned to his parent club to play in the first team, scoring five goals and providing six assists in 21 appearances.

Szoboszlai generally plays in central midfield but can also play out wide if required. He is a creative player and would likely be a youthful replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

The Hungarian made his debut for his country at senior level back in March and started the 1-0 win over Wales in the Euro 2020 qualifier earlier this month.
