Arsenal players thank pop superstar for support against Everton

Arsenal players have taken to Twitter to thank pop superstar Rihanna for showing her support during the victory over Everton on Saturday.

The long term Gunners fan number one artist, who as sung such hits as ‘Umbrella’ and ‘Work’, was at The Emirates to see Arsene Wenger’s side thrash the Toffees 5-1.

A hat-trick from Aaran Ramsey, as well as goals from Lauren Koscielny and record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – who opened his Gunners account on his debut – completed what was an important and stylish victory for Arsenal.

Rihanna is one of the club’s most high profile fans, and has previously been spotted at a number of football games in the past, including the World Cup final in 2014 where she watched Gunner Mesut Ozil lift the trophy with Germany.

After the match she posed for a picture with Mesut Ozil, who shared the snap of the pair on his Twitter account. He wrote: ‘Still unbeaten with Riri’.

Her visit to North London capped off a busy week for the Barbados born superstar.

Only last Sunday was performing at the Grammys in New York City alongside Bryson Tiller and DJ Khaled.

Unlike Ozil however, Arsene Wenger believes his side’s victory was down to their own hard work.

“I believe the speed of our game was very good and quality of movement,” he said.

β€œIt was the game like we want to play it. Fluent, pacy, technical quality, agile movement, very mobile and good finishing. Overall, I believe we all enjoyed it. Unfortunately, it didn’t last for 90 minutes but I think it is still a convincing, terrific performance.”

Regardless of who was responsible for the thrilling victory, the Arsenal players were still more than happy to see the ‘Diomands’ star in North London …
