Arsenal are “one step away” from signing Real Madrid attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard on loan for the rest of the season, according to Sport.
The Catalan publication reports that the Norwegian international is “fed up with his situation” at the Bernabeu after being given limited minutes by Zinedine Zidane this season.
Odegaard had an excellent spell at Real Sociedad last campaign, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in 36 appearances, and it was believed that the 22-year-old could return to the Basque club for a second time this month.
However, the Gunners have made their move for Norwegian in recent days as they look to add more creativity to their midfield before the transfer window closes.
The London club have been eyeing Norwich’s Emi Buendia but Canaries boss Daniel Farke has effectively ruled out the 24-year-old leaving Carrow Road, with it being claimed he could cost as much as £40m. If Sport are to believed, it seems an alternative has been found in Odegaard.
