Arsenal On Alert As Serie A Side Weigh Up Selling World Cup Winner For £19m

Arsenal and Monaco are monitoring Steven Nzonzi’s situation at Roma, according to reports in Italy.

The Giallorossi are planning a summer clearout after a disappointing season that sees them outside of the Champions League places, and the Frenchman could well be one of the players put on the transfer market.

Nzonzi only signed from Sevilla for €30m last summer and, despite playing regularly this campaign, he could be offloaded at the end of the season.

Roma are reportedly demanding €22m (£19m) but with the World Cup winner having recently turned 30, it’s unlikely they’ll get close to that figure.

Nzonzi played under Unai Emery when he was Sevilla manager, and it could be the case that the Spaniard is keen on reuniting with his former player.

With Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Mohamed Elneny all players in the squad who can play in the holding midfield role, a move for another midfield enforcer is unlikely to be a top priority this summer.
