Arsenal On Alert As Napoli Seek Buyer For Guinean Midfield General

Arsenal are interested Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara, according to reports in Italy.

The Guinean international is believed to be on the Gunners’ radar but they could face competition from Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin.

Napoli are said to be keen on recruiting a new central midfield player and are willing to offload Diawara this summer to make room in their squad.

The 21-year-old has struggled for game time under Carlo Ancelotti this season having made just 11 starts in all competitions.

Diawara also missed the last two months of the campaign with a muscle injury which limited him to only 19 appearances in total.

The Guinean was signed from Bologna for €14.5m in the summer of 2016 but he has never been a first-team regular at Napoli.

Diawara has also been linked with a move to Tottenham in the past, with reports in March claiming the London club had already open talks about signing the midfielder.
