Espanyol could sell Arsenal target Raul de Tomas for only €25m (£21m) this summer, according to Super Deporte.
The Gunners were heavily linked with the 27-year-old during the January transfer window and it is believed that the London club have kept the player “on the radar”.
De Tomas scored an impressive 17 goals in 34 league appearances for Espanyol last season and his availability for such a low fee may have tempted Mikel Arteta if his team weren’t already focused on signing another striker.
Reports suggest that the London club are locked in talks over recruiting Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus. An initial £30m bid was rejected but there is some confidence that a deal can be struck.
It’s likely that de Tomas is now some way down the pecking order in terms of forward targets for the Gunners, but his modest price tag does mean he is an option that could be revisited in the future.
