Arsenal Not Interested In Robin Van Persie

According to Metro, Robin Van Persie will not return to the Emirates during the summer. Although many rumors pointed towards the fact that the Dutch international will make a comeback after winning the Premier League title with Manchester United, it seems Arsenal are no longer interested in his services.

Van Persie who according to Wenger, will always be a Gunner, will reportedly be looking to leave Manchester because of his relationship with David Moyes. The 30 year old striker who impressed during his first year on Old Trafford, is now in the market for a new club. Arsenal seem to have dropped out of the race before it even started, as reports show the Gunners’ boss is not keen on bringing Arsenal’s former striker back to the Emirates.

Although Van Persie next to Giroud would be a match made in heaven, the Frenchman might be looking elsewhere for some much needed fire power. Signing a player over 30 is not part of his plan. Arsenal are building a young team and they already have enough experienced players around. The budget also allows Wenger to bring in a rising star or an already recognized player such as Benzema or Diego Costa.

Van Persie could help Arsenal indirectly though as Real Madrid seem interested in signing the Gunners’ former captain. If he does decide to leave for Madrid, chances are, Benzema will be on the market which means chances will increase when it comes to Wenger signing his fellow compatriot. Hopefully the Dutchman will help Arsenal one way or another.
