“No Pressure”, “Let’s Go”: Arsenal Fans React As Gunners Hand Viktor Gyokeres Thierry Henry Honour

Arsenal are going to give Viktor Gyokeres the number 14 shirt at the Emirates. The same number that Thierry Henry had.

The Gunners have been crying out for a number nine for several seasons now, and it seems their search has finally come to an end. Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres is set to move to North London for a total fee of around £64m.

Gyokeres was subject to interest from Premier League rivals Man United, but he always wanted to join Arsenal, and the deal is now done. The Swedish international brings goals, power and pace up front. He scored 54 goals in 52 games last season for Sporting, and also has experience in England playing for Coventry City in the Championship.

Arsenal fans have been reacting to the news, as it was revealed that he will wear the number 14 shirt, per David Ornstein from the Athletic.

How could be the next Arsenal signing?

After the addition of Gyokeres, Arsenal will now likely prioritise a left-winger, as they have already signed a backup to Bukayo Saka in the form of Noni Madueke.

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates, but so has Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, however, the latter is expected to be considerably more expensive, priced at over £80m.

Eze has a £68m release clause, and he has already told his close friends that he will play for Arsenal next year, so he seems the most likely addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The Gunners were in for RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons, but it seems the Dutchman is more likely to join Premier League rivals Chelsea instead.
