Thierry Henry Issues Mikel Arteta Sack Verdict And Makes Arsenal Title Prediction

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes Mikel Arteta is doing a “tremendous job” as Gunners boss.

There have been suggestions that the Spaniard will be axed if he doesn’t win silverware next season, but speaking to the Men In Blazers podcast, Henry said he thinks his former club can win the title under Arteta’s management:

“Do I think that Mikel Arteta is doing a great job? Tremendous job. Do I think he should get the sack? Hell no. Am I going to think we’re going to win the league this year? Yes. It’s been good, it’s got to be better.”

Henry won seven trophies during his 8 seasons with Arsenal, including two league titles, so he certainly knows a thing or two about what it takes to win silverware.

What do the bookies say about Arsenal’s title chances?

Most bookmakers currently have Arteta’s side as second favourites behind reigning champions Liverpool, with the majority pricing them at around 9/4 to finish top of the table.

Liverpool are 2/1, with Manchester City at 3/1. Chelsea’s triumph at the Club World Cup last week has seen their odds shorten to between 6/1 and 8/1.

What are the odds of Arteta being sacked?

At the moment, the Spaniard is regarded as the least likely head coach, along with Liverpool’s Arne Slot, to be given his marching orders.

Of course, a lot could change on that front. If the Gunners don’t start next season strongly, Arteta will start to come under pressure.

His side doesn’t exactly have the easiest start, with matches against Manchester United, Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City. We have given our prediction for how many points Arsenal will get from those fixtures here.

In other news, Arsenal have been told that they “don’t need” a former Fulham midfielder following claims that ‘serious negotiations’ are underway to sign him
