Arsenal make the trip to the Bernabeu on Wednesday to play against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final.
The Gunners are 3-0 up in the tie after the first leg at the Emirates on Tuesday when Declan Rice scored two free-kicks in a historic night in North London.
It is Arsenal’s last chance to win silverware this season, making Wednesday’s game the biggest in their season this year. Their opponents could be missing some key players which would be a huge boost to the Gunners.
Real Madrid have three injuries heading into the game and also doubt striker Kylian Mbappe, who was sent off in his last game for the Spanish giants.
Real Madrid injury news
Ancelotti could be without three players due to injuries with two big losses in defence which could help Arsenal attack down the flanks.
Dani Carvajal has missed 53 games for Real Madrid with an ACL injury, and he isn’t expected to come back until August. He has been ruled out of the game on Wednesday.
Furthermore, fellow full-back Ferland Mendy has also been ruled out, meaning that Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli will be facing up against Madrid’s backup full backs. Arteta may decide to attack the Spanish side on the flanks for this reason.
Mendy has been dealing with a muscle injury that he suffered earlier in March and it is not yet understood when he will be fit to return. Centre-back Eder Militao is also out for the game as he is recovering from a severe ACL injury which is set to keep him out until the start of next season.
Will Kylian Mbappe play against Arsenal?
Mbappe was sent off during Real Madrid’s last game in La Liga for a horrible tackle that he put in during the first half of their game against Alaves on Sunday.
He will face a suspension, however, he won’t miss the game against Arsenal as it is in the Champions League, and the suspension from the league doesn’t apply for UEFA competitions which is a shame for Arsenal. Mbappe will no doubt be a threat as he has scored 30 goals in 44 games for Los Blancos this season.
