Goalkeeper and Defence

GK – David Raya – 4/10 – the Spaniard’s poor pass to Declan Rice led to Anthony Gordon scoring Newcastle’s second goal of the night, effectively ending the tie.

RB – Jurrien Timber – 5/10 – the fullback found life tough against Gordon and he also struggled to keep possession.

CB – William Saliba – 3/10 – it was arguably the centre-back’s worst game for the Gunners. He lost his individual duel with Alexander Isak for the opening goal and then gifted a gilt-edged chance to Gordon in the second half.

CB – Gabriel – 4/10 – the Brazilian was nearly as bad as Saliba. He couldn’t handle Isak and his slow reaction led to Jacob Murphy having plenty of time to score the opener.

LB – Myles Lewis-Skelly – 6/10 – the 18-year-old was the only member of the defence who could hold his head up high following the game.
