Goalkeeper and Defence

GK – David Raya – 6/10 – did well when coming out to block Luis Diaz at the near post, and he was also sharp to get off his line to tip away a dangerous cross from Mo Salah. However, he decided to retreat into his box (rather than intercept Darwin Nunez) before the Egyptian’s equaliser.

RB – Thomas Partey – 7/10 – excellent in open play, keeping Diaz quiet for the most part. However, he did lose Virgil van Dijk from a corner for the Reds’ first equaliser.

CB – Ben White – 8/10 – didn’t need any time to adapt to being moved back into the centre of defence, and he also delivered a superb pass for Bukayo Saka before the winger opened the scoring.

CB – Gabriel – 7/10 – the Brazilian was solid as ever but he was forced off early in the second half with a knee injury after a collision with Nunez.

LB – Jurrien Timber – 7/10 – did a commendable job against Salah, considering he has missed a month of football. Had to go off for the last 20 minutes due to cramp.
