Paul Merson is expecting Arsenal to secure a comfortable win against Wolves this weekend.
The ex-Gunners midfielder was not impressed by Vitor Pereira’s side’s performance in their last outing and he believes their top-flight status is in jeopardy:
“I was at Stamford Bridge the other night and Wolves were atrocious against Chelsea. They will get relegated! Wolves’ performance in that loss to Chelsea will give so much belief to Leicester City and Ipswich.”
“They were a better team under Gary O’Neil and I strongly believe they are about to lose their best player in Matheus Cunha!”
What score has Merson predicted?
The Sky Sports pundit has gone with a 3-0 victory to Arsenal, which is a scoreline that will delight supporters who will be travelling to Molineux for the match.
Mikel Arteta’s team have been rather inconsistent but their recent displays have been pretty good, even if results haven’t gone their way. Considering Wolves’ difficulties, you would back the Gunners to secure the three points on Saturday afternoon.
Wolves v Arsenal team news
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arteta confirmed that Myles Lewis-Skelly and William Saliba are close to returning to the matchday squad. A decision will be made before the game on whether they will be included in the travelling party for the Wolves fixture.
Ben White is reportedly back on the grass, having spent just over two months on the sidelines following knee surgery. He is unlikely to feature in upcoming matches but he should be back in contention at some point next month.
Wolves will be without Yerson Mosquera, Enso Gonzalez and Sasa Kalajdzic due to knee injuries. Toti Gomes (thigh) and Boubacar Toure (knee) are close to making their comebacks but the Arsenal fixture may come too soon, while Mario Lemina is currently pressing for a move away from the club and is not available for selection.
