Paul Merson Predicts The Result As Arsenal Take On Manchester City

Paul Merson is expecting Arsenal to secure the three points when they face Manchester City this weekend.

Writing in his column for Sportskeeda, Merson says that their opponents have not been convincing, despite recent wins over Chelsea and Club Brugge, and he thinks Mikel Arteta’s side will have the edge:

“Arsenal still have an advantage here because I don’t think Manchester City are back to their best yet. They may have improved results-wise, but are they ready to trouble Arsenal? I’m not entirely sure. If they had to wait a little longer for that equaliser against Club Brugge, it could have become a messy game in my opinion.”

“People were saying Brugge were unbeaten in 20 games so it’s a massive win. Well, I saw Liverpool beat a Lille team on a 23-game unbeaten run without breaking a sweat. Manchester City and Liverpool are teams in the big league and they should be winning such games comfortably anyway!”

What score has Merson predicted?

The Sky Sports pundit has gone with a 2-1 win to the Gunners, which will delight supporters. Securing the three points will keep them in the title race no matter what result Liverpool pick up against Bournemouth.

City’s reputation may precede them, considering their phenomenal success in recent years, but they are not the team they once were. Arsenal should be confident of getting the victory they need.
