Paul Merson Predicts The Result As Arsenal Take On Ipswich

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson expects his former club to secure a “comfortable win” against Ipswich Town this weekend.

Writing in his column for Sportskeeda, Merson said he thinks manager Mikel Arteta will make several changes from the team that won in the Bernabeu midweek but he still feels the Gunners will come out on top:

“I think Arsenal should just try to get maximum points from their remaining games even if they can’t win the Premier League title anymore. If they beat Ipswich here and then win against Crystal Palace, they can go into that PSG game with some serious confidence.”

“Arsenal will rest a few players for this game, but I still think they will have too much for Ipswich to handle. I’d definitely play the likes of Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri in this game. Comfortable win for the Gunners in my opinion.”

What score is Merson predicting?

The Sky Sports pundit has gone with a 3-1 win to the Gunners, which is a scoreline that will please fans, especially those who will be travelling to Suffolk to watch the game at Portman Road.

As Merson points out, it may not matter much in the grand scheme of things, with Liverpool 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, but it will help Arteta’s men carry some momentum into the first leg of the match against Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this month.
