Patrick Vieira Explains Why He Thinks Arsenal Are At A “Different Level” This Season

Genoa head coach Patrick Vieira believes Arsenal’s recruitment has given them an excellent platform to win the Premier League title.

Asked whether the Gunners have a great chance of finishing top, Vieira said that his former club’s signings mean that Mikel Arteta’s team are operating on a “different level” this season:

“I don’t know if it’s a good year or not because the Premier League is really competitive. I think Arteta made a really strong statement by bringing those players in the summer. On the field, so far, they’re doing really good games.

“I believe that Arsenal is a part of those few teams that can win the Premier League. I think you will have to count on Arsenal to be competitive and to be there to fight until the end because the players they managed to bring in will put the quality of the team on a different level.”

Strength in depth could be key to finishing 1st

Arsenal have already had several players out injured this campaign, the most recent being club captain Martin Odegaard.

However, these setbacks won’t affect them the same way as previous seasons. There is so much quality cover in every position that fans can be confident that their team will have enough to win the majority of games.

Odegaard may be sidelined, but the likes of Eberechi Eze, Ethan Nwaneri and even Max Dowman are waiting in the wings to take his place. When Bukayo Saka was on the treatment table, Noni Madueke was able to fill in. The same with Cristhian Mosquera and William Saliba.

What are the odds of Arsenal winning the Premier League title?

The bookmakers currently rate the Gunners as favourites to clinch top spot, with nearly every betting firm pricing them as odds-on.

After recent slip-ups, reigning champions Liverpool have seen their odds lengthen to 11/4, while Manchester City are priced at 4/1.
