‘This Guy Is Multitalented’ ‘Marcelo Came Back In An Arsenal Shirt’ Fans Delighted By Defender’s Display Vs Atletico

Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly caught the eye with his performance against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

The left-back played a key role in the build-up to the Gunners’ second goal. He made a marauding run through midfield before setting up Gabriel Martinelli.

Supporters on X were quick to praise Lewis-Skelly after the match, with many hailing him as one of the brightest talents to come through the Hale End Academy:

Lewis-Skelly has given Arteta a selection headache

Up until now, manager Mikel Arteta has mostly favoured Riccardo Calafiori as his starting left-back, and the Italian international really hasn’t put a foot wrong.

That has meant Lewis-Skelly has been limited to just three starts in all competitions this season through not fault of his own.

The teenager’s display against Atletico will undoubtedly give Arteta food for thought for games going forward.

Arsenal’s strength in depth is phenomenal

One of the big reasons why the Gunners are now strong favourites for the Premier League title, as well as being fancied to go deep into the Champions League knockout rounds, is the sheer number of options at Arteta’s disposal.

Lewis-Skelly’s lack of game time is simply one example of how stacked the first-team is. There are at least two players in each position who have a strong case for starting matches.
