Ex-Everton striker Louis Saha does not believe Mikel Arteta needs to win another trophy at Arsenal to prove he is an outstanding coach.
Speaking to cryptocasinosuk.net, Saha said the fact that the Gunners have gone toe-to-toe with champions Manchester City in recent years demonstrates the Spaniard’s superb managerial abilities:
“I don’t think that Mikel Arteta needs to win a trophy to demonstrate that he is a top, top manager. He’s shown that he’s one of the best by challenging Manchester City for the title in back-to-back seasons.”
“I think to do what he did, that’s an unbelievable achievement. I’m really impressed with his ability as a coach and winning a trophy wouldn’t change that – everyone can see how good Mikel Arteta is.”
However, Saha does feel that if this Arsenal team are to go down in history, they will have to secure a major trophy of some kind:
“For a club like Arsenal, and for Mikel himself, he will want to win something. He’s got so close with his group of players, the next step is lifting that Premier League title or winning the Champions League.”
“The best managers are addicted to winning trophies. There’s no doubt that we’re watching a great Arsenal team this season, but for this team to be recognised as one of the best in Premier League history, they need to add some trophies to the cabinet. That is the only thing that is missing at the moment.”
How close are Arsenal to winning the Premier League?
Arsenal led the way two years ago before falling off to finish five points behind City. Last campaign, the title race went down to the final day but the Gunners fell just short, finishing two points adrift.
Arteta’s men have made progress every single season and the way they secured a point away at the Etihad last week (despite being down to 10 men for over 45 minutes) shows how far they have come.
Consistency is key to any title challenge
After negotiating a very tough week, with difficult away games against Tottenham and City, the Gunners will now go through a period of matches they are expected to win, starting with a home fixture against Leicester.
These types of games are just as important in the title race. Any slip-ups could prove costly at the end of the season so it is important that the players don’t drop their level and secure another three points.
