The impending departure of sporting director Edu has prompted discussion among supporters about Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.
With the Spaniard having been in charge of the Gunners for nearly five years, some have begun talking about whether the club should ponder replacing their manager in order to win a Premier League title.
After finishing runners-up in the past two years, it is surprising to see that some fans are even considering the possibility but there are those on X who are worried after a rather poor start to the campaign:
It’s 5 years now and still nothing to show for it

If he doesn’t win anything this season he has to go

I support Arteta but I look around the world's top leagues and I cant find a manager who has received as much time and support as Arteta has and not delivered a big trophy. He must deliver this season.

We want trophies, not just play good football.. We had the best time or chances to win the league twice and we fumbled it.. Would that chance ever come again?? I don't think so.. Watch the league this season.. It's even tougher than the previous two.. We want trophies

Supporters should be careful what they wish for
Since Arteta’s arrival, the former Manchester City assistant manager won the FA Cup and Community Shield in his first couple of years before going on to challenge for the title.
Considering the state that the club was in when Unai Emery was sacked in late 2019, you can’t question what he has done for the Gunners.
Those keen for a change in the dugout should know that there is no guarantee of success if you swap manager.
Arsenal need to steady the ship
The Gunners have had a difficult few weeks, with injuries and some bad results hampering their title challenge. They are, though, still only 5 points off City.
Edu’s exit could destabilise things further but, if the club’s hierarchy can find a replacement quickly, the transition should be relatively painless.
Any disquiet from a minority of fans will quickly dissipate if Arteta’s team start to pick up results again over the coming weeks.
