Arsenal Told That 15-Year-Old Wonderkid “Has Everything” Amid Nwaneri Comparisons

Arsenal have been told by former player Perry Groves that they have an unbelievable talent in 15-year-old midfielder Max Dowman.

The Gunners are currently away in Asia on their pre-season tour, where Mikel Arteta will get to see some of his new signings in action, and perhaps some names that he hasn’t seen much of so far.

One of which is Max Dowman. A 15-year-old attacking midfielder, who travelled with the first team to get some experience in their pre-season tour. Dowman has been tipped to be one of the best in the team in the future, and former Arsenal player Perry Groves has seen Dowman’s quality from his own eyes.

Groves was speaking on talkSPORT after watching Dowman in an U18s match where Dowman was a 15-year-old against players three years older than him.

He said: “He was 15, playing against 18 year-olds. There’s a massive difference in development right? He was on a different level, I’ve never seen a 15-year-old that good ever, and I’ve played with some brilliant young players when I was at Arsenal.”

“He was on three different levels to anyone else on the pitch, he was that good. What he does is he engages a player, slows down, speeds up, engages again, you can’t teach that, it’s born naturally in him. I won’t be surprised if he develops on the path like Nwaneri. I think he will be on the bench for Arsenal in probably three or four months. We’ll be saying ‘remember the name’ Max Dowman.”

How good is Arsenal talent Dowman?

The 15-year-old played last season in the U18s at Hale End, mainly as an attacking midfielder, but also as a deeper midfielder and a winger at times, showing just how versatile he can be.

He made 30 appearances in all competitions last year, and managed to score 21 goals, and provide 10 assists. For a midfielder to have those sorts of numbers, Arsenal fans should be very excited about him.

If Groves’ prediction is correct and we see Dowman on the bench this season, we could see him making an impact when Mikel Arteta decides to rotate the squad.
